At the heart of Staines-upon-Thames, Two Rivers is a busy mixed-use retail and leisure destination welcoming more than 1.8 million car visits every year. With 1,100 parking spaces across two car parks and three entry points, keeping vehicles moving smoothly plays a significant part in setting expectations and delivering the visitor experience.
After eight years of operation with Zeag systems, Two Rivers worked with HUB Parking Technology UK again to upgrade the parking infrastructure and improve traffic flow across the site.
The project introduced a hybrid parking solution combining LPR technology with ticketed barrier entry supported by the JMS management system. With LPR automatically identifying vehicles on entry and exit, the system can provide a ticket when a registration number cannot be recognized, while payment can be made by entering the vehicle registration at a pay station or directly at the exit.
Traffic flow improvement was the bullseye of the project: during peak periods, queues at the car park entrances could quickly affect the surrounding roads, so HUB introduced a bi-directional lane that can adapt to changing demand. It operates as an additional entry lane during busy morning arrivals and switches to provide extra exit capacity during the evening peak, making better use of the available space throughout the day.
Through JMS dashboard, the Mall team has a centralized view of parking operations, integrating access control with other systems such as parking guidance and CCTV.
The upgrade gives Two Rivers a more responsive parking operation, able to adapt to changing traffic patterns while providing greater visibility over what is happening across the site. By combining flexible traffic management with connected parking technology, the project supports a smoother experience for visitors and a more informed approach to day-to-day operations.
