Today is International Women’s Day. It is not a day of mere celebration, but a day to remember the social, cultural and political achievements of women, an opportunity to strengthen the fight against discrimination and violence, and a time to reflect on the steps to take, in order to effectively eradicate gender stereotypes – globally.
On a smaller scale, within the majority-male industry of parking and mobility, we wish to say thank you to the #womeninparking who make a difference every day: especially to our own HUB and FAAC colleagues, who supervise the fundamental functions of the business, at Italian headquarter and local subsidiaries alike.
We believe everyone has an important role to play in making our company a more inclusive, responsive, and well-balanced organization.
Along all of the steps of the customer interaction, including those behind the scenes, our female colleagues’ contribution is key. Take a look at their daily impact and accomplishments: HUB’s online presence through websites and social channels thrives on marketing comms teams’ content production. Expert and supportive sales account managers build valuable connections with prospects, and nurture customer relations; in the words of HUB Canada colleague Tanya Laidlaw, commitment and responsiveness are highly valued: “To continue to listen and understand the market, specifically our clients and potential ones in order to provide top level information, support, and service for years to come”.
It doesn’t stop when the deal is signed off. Being a trustworthy technology partner to our customer means providing factory-tested hardware and software, that have completed all quality tests. It means coupling products with reliable, and thoroughly checked technical documentation – translations and localizations included. Speaking the same language, recognizing the added value of customer service, and meticulous project management that actually makes a difference by connecting each department involved, and the customer, is indeed how you keep everything going efficiently. As HUB France colleague Anaïs Jourde comments, with a strong focus "my aspiration is not to stand out just as a woman, but as a project manager, and a very good one. That is equality."
Dealing with international clients and colleagues from all over the world fosters professional growth. A day in the (working) life of HUB headquarter is never dull, as it drives us to collaborate and find new solutions to new challenges, or go the extra mile to meet the clients’ needs. “Of course, things wouldn’t move forward without excellent teamwork“, points out Renata Nerozzi, from HQ order processing.
Across all departments, our colleagues continue to pave the way to a better, and more efficient organization. Even though there is no such thing as a “degree in parking”, the field of work is naturally close to STEM disciplines. The industry remains rather male-dominated, but it is slowly evolving: the work that our colleagues are doing today will set an example for future generations of young girls who might be interested in this peculiar field – and bring resources, so that they do not experience an insufficiency of exposure and encouragement.
At HUB, and FAAC Group, we count on inclusion to better our organization, and make a difference every day. Onwards and upwards!
